Marion County — The community is mourning the tragic loss of Mason May, 21, of Lebanon, who was killed in a devastating head-on crash Friday evening along KY 49 (Bradfordville Road).
According to the Kentucky State Police Post 15, the crash occurred when a 2014 Ford F-150 driven by Jacob Buckingham, 35, of Bradfordville, attempted to pass another vehicle in a no-passing zone. During the maneuver, the truck collided head-on with a 2011 Honda Civic driven by May.
Emergency responders arrived quickly, but due to the severity of his injuries, May was pronounced dead at the scene by the Marion County Coroner. Buckingham was transported to Spring View Hospital with minor injuries.
The crash remains under active investigation as troopers work to determine all contributing factors. Several agencies assisted at the scene, including the Marion County Sheriff’s Office, Marion County Fire/EMS, Lebanon Fire Department, and the Coroner’s Office.
What began as a routine drive ended in tragedy, leaving a family grieving an unimaginable loss and a community shaken by the sudden heartbreak.
Mason May will be deeply missed and remembered with love and sorrow.
